Lotus returns with restyled, more powerful 2017 Evora 400

Following a two-year break from selling new cars in the US, Lotus is staging a comeback with its fastest road-going vehicle to date.

With the help of a Edelbrock supercharger and intercooler, the Toyota-sourced 3.5-liter engine produces 400 horsepower and 302 pound-feet of torque.

Lotus is offering two transmission choices on Evora 400 including a six-speed manual, and an optional automatic.

Compared to the previous Evora S, the 400 has 55 more horsepower, which helps get the car to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and achieve a top speed of 186 mph.

You won't find a fancy active suspension on the Evora 400, but instead find a good old fashioned passive setup with Bilstein shocks and Eibach springs.

Surprisingly, the on-road manners are quite good with the suspension offering some give to absorb impacts.

While there is a backseat in the Evora 400, it's best used as a parcel shelf. Even small children would have a difficult time back there.

Lotus uses Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, which ride well on the street and provide respectable bite on the race track.

A three-element rear spoiler is one of the new styling elements on the 2017 Evora 400.

The brake system consists of four-piston calipers clamping down on cross-drilled and ventilated discs at all corners.
