The American supercar is back!

The Ford GT is finally here, and we've finally had some time with it on the road and track.

The Ford GT can trace its history back to Le Mans, when Ford was determined to beat Ferrari at its own game.

This GT is a Le Mans winner, too, capturing the top spot in its class in 2016.

This car is impossibly low.

Every angle of this car was engineered for performance.

The windshield is made of Corning Gorilla Glass -- the same stuff your smartphone might have.

The doors open up, not out.

We'll never get tired of those flying buttresses.

Heck, we'll never get tired of any part of the GT, to be honest.

The car is long and low and lean, but the nose can be raised to help getting over speed bumps or the like. 

The scoops in the nose are functional, to provide downforce. 

Exhaust is routed directly through the rear facia here. 

The engine is a twin-turbo V-6.
