2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport is a Stingray with Z06 fortifications (pictures)
Chevrolet's Corvette lineup has a new naturally aspirated hero, with 460 horsepower and lots of track-ready performance bits.
The 2017 Grand Sport was something of a surprise reveal. It will live in the white space between the standard Corvette Stingray and the Corvette Z06.
Here's a closer look at the Z07 package's aggressive front splitter.
Grand Sports will most easily be spotted on the street by their fender hash marks.
This car is fitted with the Z07 package's optional carbon ceramic Brembo brakes.
Four Howitzer-like exhaust trumpets protrude from the rear diffuser.
The Stingray's much-improved, driver-focused interior is reprised here with a few GS-related tweaks, especially models like this Special Edition.
A thick-rimmed wheel with suede-like grips and a flat bottom keeps the GS pointed where you want to go.
Subtle and not-so-subtle "Grand Sport" badging can be found throughout this new model.
The Special Edition model's Tension Blue interior highlights are likely to be an acquired taste.
This example is fitted with an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. A seven-speed manual is also available.
Note the nostalgic plan-view crest in the competition seats' headrests on this special edition.
These seats not only feature two-tone materials, the backrests also have large slots for five-point racing harnesses.
The C7's range of supportive seats are a welcome change from those of the previous-generation Corvette.
6.2-liters of naturally aspirate fury live underhood.
"Grand Sport" and the Corvette's checkered flag emblem are proudly -- and loudly -- displayed on the sound and heat-absorbing under-hood blanket.
The Corvette Grand Sport's cargo area may be a bit shallow in terms of depth, but it's wider, and deeper in length than most sports car.
