2016 Volvo S60 T5 Inscription: Blah exterior, wow interior (pictures)
The 2016 Volvo S60 T5 Inscription is a fine looking automobile...from the inside. The exterior, while not offensive, is also not exciting.
It seems that while attempting a design that could please all, the Volvo's aesthetic ends up satisfying nobody.
While pleasant to look at, the S60's front end is merely passable, not ground-breaking.
The sharply slanted rear window is nothing new in this class, but it gives the S60 a bit of a sporty touch.
The rear fascia of the Volvo S60 gets a little bit of flair with the cut-out tail lights. Beyond that, not many styling risks are present.
A power sunroof lets the rays in.
A minimalist design aesthetic is featured throughout the cabin. The use of wood grain adds a touch of luxury.
More wood grain on the center dash is complemented with aluminum trim, lending the interior a sleek and sophisticated look.
In all, the cabin is a comfortable place to spend your commute, with supportive yet supple heated seats and a heated steering wheel as well.
The Inscription model gains three inches of leg room in the back, thanks to a longer wheelbase. The backseat can easily accommodate adults for longer trips.
The trunk has 12 cubic feet of space, placing it on the lower end for a sedan. Still, two rolling suitcases easily fit with plenty of room left over.
Blind-spot monitoring alerts you to vehicles out of your sightline.
The seven-inch color screen has a clear display but lacks touchscreen functionality.
Many of the driver's aids can be turned off in the settings menu.
Navigation inputs by dial can be cumbersome. The other option is to use the telephone key pad on the center dash, which is equally awkward.
