An Italian invasion! Fiat Spider, Alfa Romeo debuts conquer the LA Auto Show (pictures)

LOS ANGELES -- The LA Auto show plays host to a wide range of automotive unveilings, from bombastic concepts and high luxury aspiration cars to the more understated rides that most of us will actually drive. We've rounded up some highlights from the 2015 show.

Lambo's new Huracan LP580-2 has less power than the original, but also saves weight by stepping down from all- to rear-wheel drive -- a change that could raise the excitement level.

The new Fiat 124 Spider shares its underpinnings and interior with Mazda's 2016 MX-5 Miata. The Italian roadster has a new look that's all its own and very polarizing. I kinda like it.

Fiat also showcased an electrified 500e with a stormtrooper inspired deco. "Hail the Empire! Hail the Emperor!"

Alfa Romeo's North American debut of the Giulia Quadrifoglio came with a history lesson. The automaker's booth features a selection of classic (and priceless) Alfa cars.

The Zagato-built Giulia TZ2, for example, is an ultra-rare racing sports car. Only 12 were ever made and this is one of them.

Speaking of motorsport, Subaru carved out a small space to highlight its racing history starting with this 1996 Subaru Impreza 555 Rally Car.

At the newer end of the 6 car collection is the 2015 WRX STI Isle of Man car.

Elsewhere, Subaru gives us a peek at the Impreza's future with the ruby red metallic Sedan Concept.

Nissan used the show to announce that it is extending its Color Studio program to the Versa Note hatchback. Owners will be able to mix and match parts in six vibrant colors to customize their ride.

Ram presented its 1500 Rebel special edition with standard Bilstein shocks and four-corner auto-leveling air suspension.

The new Lincoln MKZ has a new look, but more importantly... it's got 400-horsepower.

The automaker is targeting a younger luxury buyer
than it has traditionally appealed to with the sedan.

Nearby, Ford pulled the wraps from the new Escape crossover.

Kia's booth at the LA Auto show was largely populated by its SEMA show cars, but we couldn't help but stop by the Ballast Point beer van for a bit.

​Honda's Civic Coupe attracted a lot of attention both before and during the show. The more aggressive coupe feels like a return to form for the Japanese automaker.

Honda's Clarity Fuel Cell vehicle made an appearance alongside the new Honda Civic Coupe.

The Clarity uses hydrogen fuel to create electricity for a drive motor. The only tailpipe emission is water vapor.

All eyes were on the new Honda Civic Coupe, but this classic 1975 Civic has a timeless appeal of its own.

Nissan's Sentra has flown under the radar for the past few generations, but the automaker's hoping a new sharper image will turn a few heads.

A bit less serious is the Calico Surfer show car. This complete custom was built in the 1960s for $22,000. That sounds like a steal, but adjusted for inflation, that's the equivalent of about $176,771.

Lexus' collection of sports coupes and sedans centered around the LFA Supercar -- a vehicle that stopped production back in 2012.
