Flexible and fun: Check out the 2015 Honda Fit EX-L (pictures)
The Honda Fit gets a new look for 2015, but retains the spacious and flexible cargo area that we loved from before.
2015 Honda Fit EX-L
The 2015 Honda Fit gets an overhaul for its third generation.
B segment brawler
The compact hatchback now faces stiff competition in the B segment, but still stands out as a strong choice.
Compact, yet spacious
The Fit boasts a lot of interior volume for its compact footprint.
Magic rear seat
The rear "Magic" seats flip up to reveal an uninterrupted storage area from the floor to the ceiling for tall items.
Visibility
The 2015 Fit boasts excellent visibility thanks to a generous greenhouse and a standard rear camera.
LaneWatch camera
EX and EX-L models also feature the automaker's LaneWatch side camera.
LaneWatch camera
When the right turn signal is activated, the dashboard displays a view of the car's blindspot. This view is also useful for measuring parallel parking spots.
Forward visibility
A large windshield is framed by thin A pillars. Forward visibility is excellent.
Engine bay
The only area of the Fit that looks cramped is the engine bay.
Earth Dreams
The 1.5-liter engine has a stated output of 130 horsepower.
CVT
At the EX-L trim level, the Fit comes standard with a new continuously variable transmission.
Front-wheel drive
Power then flows to the front wheels. The CVT somewhat dulls the responsiveness of the engine, but the Fit still feels like a fun little car.
Handling
The new electric power steering loses a bit of communication when compared to the previous model, but the handling is responsive.
Interior
The interior is spacious with lots of clever little storage spaces and cupholders.
Cockpit
The Fit's cockpit feels simple; its steering wheel has a nice chunky rim and the controls fall nicely into the hand.
Push to start
EX and EX-L models feature push-button starters and smart keyless entry.
ECON button
Pressing the ECON button tweaks the throttle curve to improve fuel economy.
Instrument cluster
Instrumentation is simple yet effective, with a large central speedometer. To the right is a monochromatic trip computer that can display fuel-economy information.
Fuel economy
The Fit is capable of up to 41 highway mpg in its most efficient configuration. I only managed 34.6 (though my driving style was fairly aggressive).
Navigation
The EX-L with Navigation model features the Fit's most advanced infotainment options.
Steering-wheel controls
The bank of buttons on the right spoke of the steering wheel allow the driver to interact with the infotainment system without letting go of the wheel.
Digital audio
The Fit features a full loadout of digital media sources, including USB, Bluetooth and a suite of HondaLink Connect apps.
HDMI
The Fit also features an HDMI video input, a rarity in vehicles.
Styling
Outside, the Fit's design becomes more sporty and angular. However, it's not really what you'd call aggressive.
Rear storage
The rear seats feature a 60/40 split. The backs can be folded flat to fit large items.
'Magic' seats
"Magic" seats bottoms also flip up and lock in place.
Rear end
The lights are more angular than before. Meanwhile the shoulders gain a more squared-off edge.
2015 Honda Fit
We really enjoyed our time behind the wheel of the 2015 Honda Fit. The car loses a bit of its sporty edge, but gains a more mature feeling ride.
