2014 Ford Fiesta features new styling, tech (pictures)
Ford updates the Fiesta with looks and tech that bring it in line with its stablemates.
Although Ford has sold its Fiesta market in worldwide markets since the mid-'70s, it only hit US shores in 2011, in response to Ford's need for a subcompact.
For the 2014 model year, Ford makes cosmetic and tech updates, but leaves the driveline alone.
The grille and front-end treatment get a drastic change, copying the styling from the Fusion and Focus.
This 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine is currently the only choice. Later, Ford will be adding an EcoBoost option with a 1-liter engine.
The Fiesta can be had as a hatchback or sedan.
The Fiesta's suspension is typical for its class, with a torsion bar at the rear wheels, and MacPherson struts at the powered front wheels.
This Fiesta model is in Titanium trim, which means it comes almost fully loaded. Only the navigation system and sunroof are options.
The rear cargo area is adequate for a few grocery bags, but fold down the rear seats and the space more than doubles.
The leather-covered seats in the Titanium trim Fiesta are manually adjusted, but include light bolstering.
There is a minor amount of play in the steering that keeps the car from feeling twitchy.
MyFord Touch comes standard in the Titanium-trim Fiesta. It includes this 6.5-inch touch screen.
The optional navigation system lives on an SD card, and works as a plug-and-play feature.
The Bluetooth hands-free phone system is excellent, with full-featured voice command.
Audio sources, of which this car gets a lot, sit in a list down the left side of the stereo screen.
A rearview camera makes parking easier.
