Infiniti showed off its new large SUV at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. The 2013 JX seats up to seven, thanks to its third row of seats.

The JX's styling fits right in with the likes of Infiniti's FX and QX SUVs, which makes sense because it fits into Infiniti's lineup between those models.

Like any luxury SUV worth its salt, the JX features a power opening and closing rear hatch.

Out back is also where you'll find the sensors for the Backup Collision Intervention and Blind Spot Intervention systems. While reversing, the JX can engage its brakes automatically if an obstruction is detected to prevent a collision.

That kink in the JX's rear pillar is a new styling cue that we should begin to see more of as other Infiniti vehicles are refreshed.

The massive chrome front grille is packed with forward-facing sensors for the Intelligent Cruise Control, Distance Control Assist, Pre-Collision Warning, and Intelligent Brake Assist systems.

Helping to protect the sides of the vehicle are Infiniti's Lane Departure Warning and Prevention systems and Blind Spot Detection.

The JX's third row of seats folds flat to create a flat floor. The mechanism is so easy that the seatback can be raised or lowered with one hand.

A premium Bose audio system is available with 15 speakers, digital 5.1-channel decoding, and this Acoustic Waveguide subwoofer.

Inside the cabin is typical Infiniti, which is a good thing. Nice wood and leather textures cover every surface the driver touches.

Go with the Premium Package and you'll get Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System with 8-inch touch-screen display, XM NavTraffic, Bluetooth hands-free calling and audio streaming, Infiniti Connection, Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, and front and rear sonar sensors.

The JX series launches with the JX35, which is powered by a 265 horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). This is the first Infiniti model to utilize a CVT, but Nissan has proven that it's fairly adept with this technology. Fuel economy is expected to be rated at 23 mpg highway and 17 mpg city with a combined 19 mpg estimate.
