BMW released details and photos of a new, four-door version of its 6-series. The 6-series Gran Coupe is intended to give buyers a sportier car than the 7-series, but still offering room for four passengers.
The 6-series has been BMW's big sport coupe, sitting in the lineup between the 5-series and 7-series. Next year, BMW will sell what it calls a Gran Coupe version of the 6-series, with two rear doors allowing easier access to the rear seat.

Later, BMW will introduce the 650i Gran Coupe, which will get a twin turbocharged direct-injection V-8.
