Porsche pulls the wraps off of a lighter, stronger Cayman at the 2010 LA Auto Show.
The Cayman R loses 121 pounds versus the S model, thanks to aluminum door skins, carbon-fiber-backed seats, and door panels from the 911 GT3.
The omission of the infotainment system also saves a few pounds.
The rear spoiler from the Cayman aerokit is standard on the Cayman R.
The R's door handles have been replaced by cloth straps, saving a few more ounces.
The suspension has been lowered by 20mm, dropping the coupe's center of gravity.
The 19-inch wheel and tire package from the Boxter Spyder grace the Cayman R's wheel wells.
Black "Porsche" graphics and a front spoiler further differentiate the R from the standard Cayman.
Expect the Cayman R to retail for $66,300 when it hits dealerships in February 2011.
