Toyota's compact Corolla shows off its updated look at the 2010 LA Auto Show.
Up front the Corolla gets an aggressive face, made even more aggressive by the S trim level's body kit and fog lamps. The lower grille opening looks more than a little like that of the new Scion tC.
A 1.8-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine powers the small sedan to the tune of 132 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque.
When paired with a five-speed manual transmission, the EPA rates the Corolla at 28 mpg city and 35 mpg highway. With the four-speed automatic slushbox, those numbers drop to 26 mpg city and 34 mpg highway.
Traction control and stability control are standard, as is Smart Stop, which cuts engine power when the brake is depressed regardless of throttle position.
The Corolla S gets newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels to go along with its color-keyed body kit and rear spoiler.
