Early adopters seem to think electric cars are all the rage and can regularly be seen rolling around in models such as the Nissan Leaf, Mitsubishi iMiev and G-Wiz. But how does Joe P Ublic-McSchmoe feel about battery-powered cars? If push came to shove, would you actually dip your hand in your wallet and buy one?

It's time to stand up and be counted, people. Head over to our Facebook page, cast your vote and let us know whether you're itching to switch to EVs, whether you'd rather stick with the internal combustion engine, or if you believe public transport is the future of getting from A to B.

Oil industry workers aside, most of us probably all agree petrol and diesel-powered cars aren't sustainable in the long term. Sure, they're very convenient (and petrol stations do sell delicious snacks) but fossil fuels are a finite, hugely expensive commodity that cause damage to our environment.

So are electric cars a legitimate alternative? Have you been swayed by the fact their power source can be obtained cheaply and sustainably, or are you still sceptical about their high purchase price, limited range, long recharge times, questionable resale value and the fact they look so damn weird?

Let us know. Vote in our Facebook poll and tell us whether you're ready to splash the cash or if you're holding out for an altogether different transport hero.
