The Reventon strikes back

When we saw the Lamborghini Reventon on the floor at the 2007 Frankfurt auto show, we had mixed reactions. It was either put on black gloves and sunglasses, and jump in the driver's seat, or find an X-Wing fighter and get into a dogfight with the Reventon. With its matte-gray paint and sharp angles, the thing looks like a stealth fighter or a new Batmobile. It's the most dangerous-looking Lamborghini we've ever seen, and rightly so, as it's named after a bull that won its fight with a famous toreador in 1943. From the front, it looks flat and low and mean. From the back the Reventon looks positively sci-fi, with trapezoidal vents housing LED taillights. It could also be a supercool PC case mod.

The Reventon is based on the Murcielago, but uses extensive carbon fiber for the body. But it's not just for show, as its powerplant is a 6.5-liter 12-cylinder engine putting out 650 horsepower. As with the Murcielago, it puts power to all wheels. In the cabin, a cowl protects the instrument cluster from glare, a good thing, as it uses LCDs to display speed, RPMs, and other useful information. We expected a tactical display, but only found the expected automotive gauges. If you can put up the $1,000,000 this car costs, well, you're already too late. Lamborghini has already sold the only 20 it's going to make.
