Last week in this forum, I paid homage to the "Truck of the Year," the Ford Transit Connect van, as announced last week at this year's International Auto Show in Detroit. But some of you may still be tripping on the obvious fact that the Transit Connect is, in fact, a van and not a truck. Being a stickler for precise verbage, I have decided to present a video or two on what I consider to the be the real North American Truck of the Year--the 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor.
This particular Web video from Popular Mechanics emphasizes the performance aspects of the 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, featuring insight from a top Ford engineer about the mechanics, testing and design that went into making this pickup such a badass both on and off the road. This video features lots of impressive footage of the Raptor kicking up sand at the "top secret" test facility as well a look at the tires, shocks, and more that make up the physical aspects of this F-150. Cue it to the 2:40 mark to see and hear about the Raptor's traction and hill-climbing ability as the engineer describes what makes the Raptor the premier American made off-road vehicle available for purchase at your local dealer--it's the closest most of us will ever get to the Baja, baby.
