A few weeks back we brought you a crash test between a 1959 Chevy Bel Air and a 2009 Chevy Malibu. Now, for a series of crash tests between two cars of the same era, but of vastly different sizes.

A few weeks back we brought you a crash test between a 1959 Chevy Bel Air and a 2009 Chevy Malibu. Now, for a series of crash tests between two cars of the same era, but of vastly different sizes.

These non-standard tests are being carried out by America's Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, which is currently in the throes of celebrating its 50th anniversary. In the second video, two cars from Daimler are slammed into each other under the same conditions: a Mercedes-Benz C-Class and a Smart ForTwo.
