This coming weekend Singapore will once again host one of the hottest Formula 1 racing events of the year. Today we got a picturesque slideshow of the sights and action that took place at last year's inaugural event.

In 2008, FIA Formula One World Championship reintroduced the Singapore Grand Prix to its legions of fans after years of inactivity. Despite this fact, the race that takes place at the scenic Marina Bay in Singapore has a history that dates back to the mid 1960s. In fact, a lot of the appeal of this particular F1 event is its course that runs around the picturesque Marina Bay area vicinity, and also because of its night race that takes place amid the bay's incredible visuals. And with that said, this is the very reason I have selected this particular Web video to preview this coming weekend's event, the 2009 Formula 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix.

Normally, I'm not big on "slideshow" Web video--normally I like to see the cars in action and in real time. However, the lack of quality video footage on the Web made me reconsider, and I managed to locate a breathtaking slide show clip with crisp images of the Marina Bay, the lights, the track, and the badass Formula 1 cars. Fernando Alonso won last year's race; we'll have to wait to see who's the victor at this year's race.
