DETROIT -- The 2010 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan cars are under study by federal regulators after three complaints that floor mats can trap the accelerator pedal, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

About 249,300 cars are affected, NHTSA said on its Web site. Bloomberg reported that the agency had received the complaints about pedals being trapped by unsecured all-weather floor mats. No crashes or injuries have been reported.
