If there's any place you want to unveil a mega-luxury coupe, Pebble Beach is it.

After spending years as a regular ol' car fanatic, he started working his way through the echelons of the automotive industry, starting out as social-media director of a small European-focused garage outside of Chicago. From there, he moved to the editorial side, penning several written features in Total 911 Magazine before becoming a full-time auto writer, first for a local Chicago outlet and then for CNET Cars.

This coupe is almost as long as one of the longest production vehicles ever built, the Cadillac Fleetwood 75. Have fun parallel parking this!

Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes told us to look forward to a new car being unveiled at Pebble Beach, part of the annual Monterey Car Week festivities. Today, Mercedes tossed out a mysterious teaser on its social media channels. If you think that's a coincidence, congratulations, there's a bridge for sale out there with your name on it.

According to its social media posts, this car is going to be "nearly 20 feet" long, which is only about a foot shorter than the old Cadillac Fleetwood 75, one of the largest production sedans on the planet. But what you see here isn't a sedan -- it's a coupe. It's a 20-foot coupe. Goodness.

Of course, something that big won't fit in with the typical Mercedes-Benz lineup, so it's going over to the brand's big brother, Maybach. How do I know? There's a Maybach badge on it. Maybach's current stable of vehicles includes the Mercedes-Maybach S600, and, well, that's it. It could use some friends, and this coupe will fit the bill perfectly.

There's a chance it could be just a stretched version of the S-Class Coupe, but the silhouette suggests we're in for something different. We'll find out at Pebble Beach, which takes place at the end of August.
