Our mums always told us the only way to get good eyesight was to eat our carrots. Sadly, we never listened, and now we're a bunch of four-eyed freaks with rapidly decaying optic nerves. We're not worried though, because technology is at hand -- we've just spent a few days testing the night-vision system on the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and now, like the Terminator, ve zee everyzing.

As if driving along pitch-black motorways without having to look at the road ahead wasn't cool enough, the Merc also comes with three (count 'em) TVs, two DVD players and an on-board computer system that accelerates, brakes and stops the car on your behalf while you're stuck in rush-hour traffic. All you have to do is steer. And work out what buttons to press to enable these funtions.

Is it any good, though? Does having a car this advanced remove the pleasure of driving? No way -- this is how we roll on Car Tech. Grab your NHS frames, hop aboard and ride shotgun with the big boys as we show you how the other half live.
