McLaren confirms successor to the legendary F1 supercar
The new F1 will feature a hybrid drivetrain, dihedral doors and three-seats.
Following up a legend is a difficult thing to do, but McLaren has confirmed rumors that it is working on a successor to the F1 supercar under the codename BP23.
"BP2" standing for "Bespoke Project 2," while the "3" refers to the number of seats the car will have, which follows in the footsteps of the F1.
Unlike the V12-powered F1, McLaren Special Operations says the new car will utilize by a hybrid drivetrain, and is being classified as a "hyper-GT" because it'll feature both brain-melting performance, but also be capable of handling longer road trips.
Additional details are scarce, but the British supercar maker says that the BP23 will include power dihedral doors that extend into the roof. Production of the 106 car run (just like the F1) is slated to begin in 2019. If you are still waiting for your invitation to buy the new F1 to arrive, I'm sorry to say that you didn't make the cut because the car is already sold out.
