Mazda2 keeps it too simple

CNET Car Tech reviews the 2011 Mazda2.

Something about a small car with a manual transmission brings out the 16-year-old in us. With the Mazda2, we constantly wound up the engine, letting the revs fly before jamming it into the next gear, throwing it around like a toy. With its 100 horsepower, we couldn't get in too much trouble.

Although fun for its simplicity, the car was missing something, namely anything at all resembling tech in the cabin. With its low price point it may be positioned for younger buyers, but the lack of an iPod connection or any kind of Bluetooth will disappoint. Besides a simple auxiliary input for the stereo, this car doesn't readily adapt for personal electronics.
