The next generation of the iconic Mazda MX-5 Miata is almost upon us. The automaker has released a teaser announcement and video stating that the 2016 Mazda MX-5 will be fully revealed on September 3, 2014 at a private event in Monterey, Calif.
We already speculated on what will be happening beneath the skin of the next Miata when its Skyactiv Chassis debuted at the 2014 New York auto show earlier this year, and the teaser video above doesn't give us a glimpse of the car's new design. However, you can hear the new Skyactiv engine being put through its paces. What sounds like the slight whistle of a turbocharger raises some interesting questions and new speculation about what we'll find under the roadster's new hood.
CNET will be there at the September debut, which will be the first time we'll see (and hopefully drive) the complete roadster. I can hardly wait.
