Lexus gets lit, adorns IS with 41,999 programmable LEDs

If the LEDs were laid end to end, they would go on for half a mile.

The youths sure do love getting lit and talking about things that are lit. Lexus decided to turn the whole thing into some sort of dad joke by covering an IS sedan in 41,999 LEDs. Now that is "lit."

Lexus calls it the Lit IS, not to be confused with the mid-to-late-1990s alternative rock band of the same name. All 41,999 LEDs were applied by hand. Using computers, Lexus can make its Lit IS display images or animations that go along with, say, a music video. That's where this car debuted, in fact -- UK artist Dua Lipa's new video, "Be the One."

Looking at it in video, it barely looks real. But it is, and it's pumping out 175,000 lumens when fully illuminated. That's the same amount of light as 109 100-watt incandescent light bulbs. Take a look at the video below, although you might want to chow down a handful of psilocybin first. Hey, at least it's better than the Sriracha car.
