LAS VEGAS--Last year's SEMA Show may have been the year of the hybrid, but this year Honda is throwing its weight behind its original golden child, the Honda Civic.

The automaker has filled its booth here at the 2011 SEMA Show with a collection of high-performance and high-styled 2012 Honda Civic Si Coupe and Sedan models.

Leading the high-performance charge is the Bisimoto Engineering 2012 Honda Civic Si Coupe, which spins the dyno's rollers to the tune of 1,004 horsepower. That's no typo: one thousand and four ponies. More amazingly, Bisimoto does so with the Si's 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine block, which is now force-fed air though one of the largest turbochargers that I've ever seen. (Check out the details of the build here.) The Bisimoto Civic Si also features the tuner's trademark colorful graphic scheme, a stripped interior with a pistol grip shifter, and a drag parachute to help bring the Coupe to a quick halt at the end of a quarter-mile run.

Near the other end of the form-function spectrum is the Tjin Edition Civic Si Sedan (one of many Tjin Edition vehicles on display around the show), which features a satin metallic wrap, suspension upgrades, and a set of Rotiform wheels that show off orange paint on one side and purple on the other, and Baer six-piston calipers also painted purple or orange to contrast with the wheels on either side of the vehicle. Almost laughably, the Tjin Civic Si Sedan also features a pair of Recaro child seats secured to its rear bench, presumably for Daddy-Daughter Day at the local autocross event.

Fox Marketing has a go at turbocharging the Civic Si Coupe as well, but its example is nowhere near as extreme as Bisimoto's. Fox presents its take on a tuning setup that an individual tuner could implement in his or her daily driver. Additionally, Honda brought out a custom Civic Coupe that was designed by rock band Blink-182 for Honda's Civic Tour concert series.

Honda also gives a nod to the Civics of past with a pair of older-model Civics, one of which is a 2000 model year coupe that won the Super Street Tuner Challenge so many years ago. The other is the Civic that started it all: a 1975 Honda Civic three-door hatchback that has been meticulously restored to its original yellow color.
