Mercedes-Benz today offered up a first look at the slightly redesigned 2012 C-Class Coupe. The sporty, new, two-door C-Class will debut at the 2011 Geneva auto show.

The front view of the coupe features a prominent radiator grille, a short front overhang, a long hood and a long sloping roof.

The C-Class Coupe offers two direct-injection engine options. The C250 trim comes with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, offering 201 hp and 229 pound-feet of torque. It goes from 0 to 60 in 7.1 seconds and averages a combined 24 mpg (estimated).

The C350 trim features BlueDirect injection 3.5-liter V6 with 305 hp and 273 pound-feet of torque. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds and averages a combined 22 mpg (estimated).

Both trims of the coupe feature the same power train as the C-Class sedan.

Inside, the C-Class Coupe includes upgraded features such as nine airbags, larger display screens, phone book transfer, wireless Bluetooth audio streaming and a USB interface in the center armrest. Other services include Sirius weather information and destination search via Google, as well as the option of downloading a route that has been previously configured on a PC using Google Maps and sent to the car. The optional COMAND navigation system also has a new 3D display with city views.

The instrument panel of the C250 Coupe features aluminum trim, while the C350 Coupe features rich burl walnut. Unique ash olive matte wood trim is optionally available.

"By extending the C-Class portfolio, we are consciously targeting new customers," said Joachim Schmidt, head of sales and marketing at Mercedes-Benz Cars. "The new model is youthful, stylish and expressive. What we are offering is an exceptionally sporty way to enter the world of the Mercedes-Benz coupe."
