DETROIT--The Chevrolet Camaro convertible will go into production in early 2011.
Despite some media reports, General Motors spokesman Terry Rhadigan said, "The convertible was never canceled. It was retimed. It will be the first quarter of 2011 for the start of production."
Rhadigan said the original plan was to introduce the convertible in early 2010. Camaro coupe production began in March.
"We always thought it would be one year after the coupe," he said. "Instead we are going two." Rhadigan said both V-6 and V-8 models will be offered.
