SAN CARLOS, Calif. -- BorgWarner Inc. will produce a single-speed gearbox for Tesla Motors Inc.'s electric Roadster.
The new gearbox, designed by Tesla, is part of a power train that delivers 30 percent more torque and improves the electric car's driving range by 10 percent over the previous design.
BorgWarner, of suburban Detroit, makes transmissions, driveline components and engine air management systems.
