Bentley's 2012 model year update to its Continental GTC convertible will feature a Google Earth-based navigation system, technology developed by sibling company Audi, along with a number of other improvements. Bentley will unveil the 2012 Continental GTC at the 2011 Frankfurt auto show.

Similar to its hard-top stablemate, the Continental GTC is powered by a twin turbocharged 6-liter W-12 engine, which generates 567 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. That amount of power pushes the four seat convertible to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds. The engine can also be fed E85 bio-fuel.

The Continental GTC boasts a new navigation system, a huge improvement over the previous system. Bentley

A six-speed automatic transmission by ZF runs power to an all-wheel-drive system, with power biased toward the rear wheels. Bentley widened the track front and rear to improve handling. Twenty-inch wheels are standard, with two types of 21-inch wheels as optional equipment.

But the Google Earth integration into the navigation system is an important update for this car. As we saw in the previous generation Continental Supersports, Bentley relied on outdated cabin tech that tarnished the luxury of this very expensive car.

As Bentley belongs to the Volkswagen group, it was able to piggyback on Audi's development of a Google-connected navigation system, which we first saw in the Audi A7. Along with Google Earth maps, the system offers Google local search.

Although Bentley will not unveil the Continental GTC until the Frankfurt auto show in mid-September, the company is already taking orders for the car.
