Hey remember that sweet
Bentley goes to great lengths in its press release to tell us what the Continental Supersports Convertible has in common with its Coupe stable mate--same 621 hp twin-turbo FlexFuel W-12 engine, same 621 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque performance numbers, the same ZF-sourced six-speed automatic transmission mated to an all-wheel-drive system, and the same crappy cabin tech suite. However, the automaker gives us surprisingly little information about the differences. We can guess that, like the Continental GTC upon which it is based, the Supersports Convertible's top will be made of fabric and power-retractable.
We can also tell from the photos that, unlike its fixed roof sibling, the Continental Supersports Convertible will also retain its rear seats--presumably because a four-seater convertible looks slightly less silly than a two-seat drop-top with a parcel shelf. Of course, the presence of rear seats means that this Supersports will not be equipped with the carbon fiber rear cross-brace.
With more weight from the addition of the roof mechanicals and the--ahem--rear seats, you'd think that the convertible Supersports would be slower than the the coupe, but according to Bentley the new model still rockets to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds before topping out at 202 mph.
The Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible bows at the 2010 Geneva motor show in March. Hopefully, we'll have pricing by then.
