2012 Acura TSX Sport Wagon: Last of a line
Acura offers its TSX model in a wagon format, an eminently practical vehicle that is going the way of the dinosaur.
Between crossovers and four-door hatchbacks, American drivers find little interest in a real wagon anymore, which explains why the Acura TSX Sport Wagon is one of the very few remaining wagons on the market. And as Acura may not design a new generation of the TSX as the company revamps its model lineup, this wagon may only see one more model year.
So if you are a wagon fan, this may be your last chance to get one. Acura took a mild approach when it built the TSX Sport Wagon. Although the TSX sedan can be had with four cylinder or V-6, and automatic or manual transmissions, the TSX Sport Wagon is limited to the four-cylinder automatic combination. However, that power train works well for this practical people and cargo carrier, as its 200 horsepower was enough for most driving exercises we put it through. And over a long freeway trip, its fuel economy handily beat the EPA highway number.
The cabin tech offers some useful features, but Acura has not kept up with the competition. The interface, in all its buttony glory, is a bit of a mess, and the voice command for the Bluetooth phone system suffers from some limitations. The highlight in the cabin was the ELS audio system, which delivers excellent quality sound.
