A slight curve sets this Samsung monitor apart.

Samsung unwrapped the details on a 1080p curved monitor that's geared towards a more immersive entertainment experience. The 27-inch Samsung S27D590CS starts at $430 and will go on sale in the US on October 1st.

Aimed at gamers and heavy video-watchers, the curved screen is meant to create a 3D effect with a greater sense of depth and wider field of view. Matched with a wide 178-degree viewing angle, the 1,920x1,080-pixel resolution display at the very least provides a unique viewing experience.

The monitor's design is sleek, with an easel-like stand and slim bezels, but it lacks a variety of ergonomic functions -- it can only tilt up and down to best accommodate your viewing angle. The ports are located on the monitors back and include a VGA, DisplayPort, and HDMI.

What's a stunning visual experience without audio to match? The S27D590CS packs a pair of 5W dual speakers, as well as a standard headphone out connection for your listening pleasure. According to Samsung, the monitor boasts a 4ms response time, high contrast ratio of 3000:1 and 350cd/m2 brightness.

Though some of its specs pale in comparison to today's high-end monitors, a curved display is still a relatively new feature and a $430 starting price is an understandable premium for the rare novelty. What do you think about the 27-inch curved monitor? Let us know in the comments section.
