Samsung bends 105-inch SUHD TV
On the heels of its 85-inch bendable TV from last year, Samsung has added 20 more inches to the show-stopping flexible television, which can go from curved to flat at the touch of a button.
LAS VEGAS -- Last year Samsung stole CES 2014 with its 85-inch bendable UHD TV . This year it grew 20 inches and an "S."
The massive TV is able to go from flat to curved at the touch of a button. It utilizes small servos behind the screen to curve the edges in, and back out again, to the whim of your remote control thumb. A Samsung rep told us they were trying to make the curve as extreme as possible given the limitations of the screen's physical characteristics, in an attempt to provide more of an immersive benefit.
Amazingly, this TV will actually ship in the second quarter of this year. Perhaps even crazier, Samsung wouldn't tell us how much it costs, but given that the non-bendable 105-inch model runs a cool $120,000, it will be ridiculous.
And in case you're keeping track, LG is also shipping a bendable TV this year, albeit at a puny 77 inches.
Beyond the huge size, the crazy bendiness and the sleek custom stand, this is just your typical SUHD TV, with features similar to those of the high-end JS9500 series. Check out that write-up for details.
