Quick Take: The SP-500 UZ is the first in Olympus's rebranded Ultra Zoom line of cameras. It combines a 6-megapixel CCD with a beefy 10X optical zoom. It lacks the higher resolutions of the SP-310 and SP-350 cameras, but it still has a 2.5-inch LCD and more than two dozen shooting modes. Accessory lenses that attach to the threaded barrel on the lens augment the focal range. Like most megazoom models, the Olympus SP-500 UZ has an electronic viewfinder (EVF).
