LAS VEGAS--If you're tired of the router-modem combo device provided by your ISP, here's an alternative.

Netgear today unveiled at CES 2013 the first 802.11ac router in the States that also has a built-in ADSL2+ modem, the Netgear D6200 Wi-Fi DSL Modem Router. This router can be used directly with a DSL service without the need for a separate modem.

Personally, I generally am not a fan of combo devices, especially those provided by your ISP, but mostly because their router portion tends to be inferior to most existing routers on the market. The Netgear D6200 is an exception.

The new router/modem combo device offers up to 867Mbps speed on its 5GHz band and up to 300Mbps on its 2.4Ghz band. While it's not as fast as the Netgear 6300, it's faster than most, if not all, existing mode/router combos on the market. In short, it's essentially the same as the R6200 released last year, with the addition of a built-in DSL modem.

The router comes with four Gigabit LAN ports, one WAN port, and two USB ports to connect to storage or a printer. It'll be available by April of this year and will cost $200.
