Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro delivers quad HD eye candy, metal brawn, colossal battery

You don't get much more "flagship" than this 6-inch beast with an ultra high-res display -- at least on paper.

Muscle up. Lenovo

Now, here's a phone I'd like to take for a spin. Lenovo's brand-new Vibe Z2 Pro is a superphone in all senses of the term: at 6-inches, its huge screen and body aren't for the small of hand, and its internal spec list isn't joking around.

The Vibe Z2 Pro's oversize screen has a quad HD resolution (that's 2,560x1,440 pixels for a density of 490ppi), Android 4.4 KitKat, a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, and a 16-megapixel camera. On top of that, you're looking at 3GB of RAM and a colossal 4,000mAh battery, the most capacious we've seen to date.

There are 32GB of internal storage, but no microSD card slot if you'd like to load up on more. A global device, the Vibe Z2 Pro has a dual-SIM option. Buyers will also be able to pick from titanium, black, and gold shades.

The Vibe Z2 Pro's stiffest competition in the quad HD category? The 5.5-inch LG G3 , which you can learn about in our full review. Though Lenovo hasn't dropped pricing or availability information yet, there's a good chance that the Vibe Z2 Pro will stick around Asia, Lenovo's stronghold.

Still, with Lenovo's ownership of Motorola on the horizon, its standout handsets hint at the kind of direction and support the company can give to the venerable brand.
