The upcoming Creative ZiiSound D5x has new wireless and modular capabilities.

The successor to the Creative ZiiSound D5, the D5x looks a lot like the older model, with only minor aesthetic design tweaks, but it has also brought some friends to the table in the form of a modular wireless speaker system.

You can wirelessly connect up to three D5x speakers and the DSx subwoofer for a richer surround sound experience. Coupled with the subwoofer, the sound easily fills a small conference room (or large living space).

Like the D5, the D5x also includes a wireless transmitter that connects to your iPhone or iPod; when you dock your iDevice, the D5x charges it, but you can also easily remove it and use it as a remote control for the speaker.

It is also compatible with Bluetooth devices such as notebooks, smartphones and MP3 players; if it's anything like the D5, you will probably be able to purchase a Bluetooth USB dongle for computers that aren't Bluetooth-enabled.

The Creative ZiiSound D5x will be available in Australia from July 2011. Watch this space for our full review.
