If you're the sort with too many phone lines and not enough phones, this Acer smartphone could be exactly what the doctor ordered.

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- I've seen many outlandish devices during my time covering trade shows, and Computex is usually a favorite for that sort of thing. Taiwanese manufacturers aren't afraid to try out new things, and this handset from Acer takes the cake with its over-the-top functionality.

The Acer Liquid Z700 is a MediaTek-powered quad-core 1.2GHz Android phone, with 2GB RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. That doesn't seem particularly impressive, but the base specs don't tell the whole story.

Inside, the Z700 has slots for three SIMs, and all of them work globally on quad-band 3G frequencies. This does means the phone will need a lot of power, but Acer has this covered with a 3,500mAh battery.

The 5-inch display is graced with a 1,280x720-pixel resolution, and things looked pretty sharp on the screen. The UI feels pretty much like stock Android, but Acer has made a few tweaks to the notification drop-down menu.

Besides giving the home button a new look by changing it to two circles, there's also a new button on the back of the phone called AcerRapid that you can use to launch an app. You can also hold down the button to activate the camera.

The Z700 has a rear 8-megapixel shooter and a front 2-megapixel camera for taking selfies. To ensure that you're taking the best selfies even in the worst lighting situations, Acer has added a forward-facing LED flash as well.

On the whole the Acer Liquid Z700 seems to have cool features that have plenty of potential, the tri-SIM might be overkill. A dual-SIM is usually enough for the frequent flyer, but perhaps someone who happens to visit three countries regularly will find this feature very useful.
