Polk offers stereo Omni S6 Play-Fi speaker

Polk has announced its latest multiroom speaker, the stereo Omni S6, which has design nods toward its previous wireless flagship, the Woodbourne .

The Omni S6 offers a "curved transducer array" -- similar to that in the $700 Woodbourne -- with dual 4-inch drivers and two 0.75-inch tweeters driven by a four-channel, 100-watt amplifier.

While the Woodbourne was geared toward Apple AirPlay and Bluetooth, the Omni S6 is part of Polk's Omni Play-Fi range.

The Omni S6 is the company's first speaker that offers a 3.5mm input, which can also be retransmitted to other Play-Fi speakers. Unlike competitors such as LG and Monster , the Play-Fi speaker doesn't offer Bluetooth connectivity.

Play-Fi is a standard from DTS which enables users to use a single app to control multiroom speakers from several different vendors, including Polk, Wren, Definitive Technology and DTS' own Phorus.

The Play-Fi app supports multiple streaming services including Spotify Connect (now with multiroom capability), Pandora, Rdio, Rhapsody and SiriusXM as well as streaming from a phone or other UPnP device.

The Omni S6, available in white or black, retails for $350 in the US and is available now, while UK and Australian pricing and availability are yet to be announced.
