Mimio Xi

The Good Capture bar's memory allows for computer-free use; uses reliable wireless technology; easy to install both USB and wireless versions; capture bar accepts batteries for total wirelessness.

The Bad Capture ability is somewhat imprecise; meetings function requires third-party software; flip-chart functionality costs extra; no handheld compatibility; AC adapter also costs extra.

The Bottom Line The Mimio Xi is a good choice for professionals who want to store whiteboard information directly to the capture device.

Mimio Xi

The Mimio Xi whiteboard capture device is relatively inexpensive compared with devices from competing manufacturers, such as the eBeam System 3 BT, and you can use it without connecting to a computer. However, its capture abilities are somewhat imprecise (you need third-party software or services to host a meeting with remote users), and unlike the eBeam virtual whiteboard, the Mimio Xi doesn't work with a flip chart. Although it's more expensive, we prefer eBeam's capture device.
