LG SoundPlate: The flattened sound bar

Like the Bose Solo and SpeakerCraft CS3, the new LG LAP340 SoundPlate doubles as a pedestal for TVs between 32 and 55 inches, yet it is only 1.38 inches (35 millimeters) high..

The sound bar features a 120W 4.1-channel system with dual subwoofers with a ported bass system designed to "reduce harmful vibrations," but according to Trusted Reviews' hands-on the rumble was sufficient to topple a remote sitting on top onto the floor. Lastly, the speaker comes with a Cinema Mode that "optimizes the LAP340's surround-sound capabilities, creating an immersive field of multidirectional audio".

The sound bar incorporates LG's Sound Sync, which includes Bluetooth connectivity for wireless music playback and also permits wireless connection to compatible LG TVs.

While pricing for the United States is yet to be announced, a European online store is listing the SoundPlate's retail price at 500 Euros (US $670).
