LAS VEGAS -- Whole-house streaming music is big at CES 2014, with Samsung, LG, Play-Fi, and more all exhibiting products.

LG's NP8740 and NP8540 are all-in-one speakers, similar to the Sonos Play:5 and Play:3 respectively, which run on both a proprietary MESH network -- just like Sonos products -- and Bluetooth.

The speakers are portable and come with a "grab bar" on the rear, though LG stresses that they're designed for indoor use.

The speaker system will be controllable by an "intuitive drag-and-drop" smartphone app that can control each speaker or zone independently.

Unlike Sonos' speakers, these LG speakers will also support lossless music playback up to a maximum 24-bit/192KHz -- though there was no mention of which formats.

The third model in the range is a Bridge Box, which is needed to expand systems larger than two speakers.
