Dell's U2413 monitor is a good thing in a small package

The U2413 is the smallest of the new additions to Dell's UltraSharp line of monitors. DELL

Less than a year after it released the U2412M, Dell's added a new 24-inch monitor to its lineup. The U2413 is engineered for color-critical work and is currently available at $599.

The monitor has a 12-bit internal processor and is calibrated to support 99 percent of the Adobe RGB color space and 100 percent of sRGB. Ports on the monitor include USB 3.0, DisplayPort, Mini DisplayPort, DVI, and HDMI.

The model's high-performing predecessors set high expectations for the U2413's release. The U2412M was a highly rated monitor that performed well, but the U2413's 12-bit internal processing hearkens back to the model before the U2412, the U2410, which is still preferable for high-end use over its replacement due to the increase in color depth. The 1.07 billion colors the U2413 supports should make the monitor ideal for photographers and designers.

Dell announced the U2413 alongside the 30-inch high-performance U3014 and the 29-inch ultrawide U2913WM displays. The U2413 also has a 27-inch counterpart in the Dell UltraSharp U2713H, which is similar to the Dell UltraSharp U2713HM, except with a few higher specs including better color support and a faster response time.
