New Reach79 iPhone 6 case allegedly doubles your cell signal

LAS VEGAS -- You may remember a company called Pong that makes phone cases that supposedly helped reduce radiation levels emitted from your phone. Pong's parent company, Antenna79, has come out with a new iPhone 6 case, the Reach79, that looks a lot like a Pong case, but instead of reducing radiation, it's designed to boost your cell signal -- up to 2x, according to the company.

The cases are available now in black and cost $60 (iPhone 6) and $70 (iPhone 6 Plus).

"We all want to get the most from our smartphones, and that's exactly what Reach79 cases were designed to do," said David Vigil, Antenna79 CEO. "Powered by patented antenna technology, Reach79 cases are the first performance-enhancing smartphone cases designed for speed. Each case is embedded with a micro-thin, gold-plated antenna that works to increase your smartphone's signal strength so your phone can do more for you."

Vigil says that Reach79 cases have been tested at CETECOM, a CTIA-accredited test facility, and verified to improve a phone's signal strength by an average of 1.6x, with peak performance of over 2x. User experience may vary depending on device, carrier and location, of course.

The company adds that along with boosting your signal the case enables faster data speeds and improves battery life.

Reach weighs 1.27 ounces and is rated to protect against drops up to 6.6 feet. More colors, including the red version you see above, will be available in the coming months.

We'll be testing the case soon and will report back on our experiences and let you know if Antenna79's signal boost claims hold up.
