Zuli might make the light switch a thing of the past (pictures)
The Zuli Smartplug turns controls your electronics by sensing where you are in your home.
The Zuli Smartplug is the first major connected outlet that works with Nest.
Setting up the Smartplug is easy. No instructions are included in the packaging, because the app will walk you through the process, step by step.
The body of the plug is unobtrusive and won't block other outlets if it's plugged in.
Like any smart plug, the Zuli will let you schedule your electronics however you'd like.
The Smartplug also works as a dimmer, so you can use the scheduling in conjunction to create a lighting alarm for yourself in the morning.
Each Smartplug has a small button on the edge, so you can always manually toggle your electronics.
Zuli integrates with the Nest Learning Thermostat, as well. That means Presence, the feature that helps Zuli know where in the house you are, can also inform Nest's "home" and "away" statuses.
The Zuli Smartplug isn't the most striking gadget, visually speaking. But a subtly backlit logo glows when the switch is on -- a nice touch for aesthetes.
The Nest Thermostat integrates well with the Zuli app, allowing the Smartplugs to signal your arrivals and departures.
Unfortunately, to take full advantage of the Zuli Presence feature, you'll have to dish out cash for three Smartplugs -- that's $160 (or about £100, AU$220).
Check out more on the Zuli Smartplug at CNET, or pick one up for $60 (about £40, AU$80) at a major retailer near you.
