Xiaomi's Mi Mix is a glimpse into the future. Sold only in China (though you can get the phone from online third-party retailers), the review model costs 3,499 yuan, which converts to around $510, AU$680 or £420. There's also a premium model with 18-carat gold embossing, 6GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage for 3,999 yuan (approximately $590, AU$770 or £480).
The phone is visually stunning. It's hard not to be amazed by its large borderless 6.4-inch display. It seems to almost spill out into the real world.
While the phone is big, it's actually only slightly bigger than Apple's iPhone 7 Plus. The screen is much bigger though.
Here's a closer peek -- you can see a little bit of bezel.
At the bottom is a 10 mm chin where the front 5-megapixel selfie camera is. The relatively large chin also lets you hold the phone without your palm touching the screen.
The phone isn't very thick at 7.9 mm (0.31 inches), and even from the sides, you can see how glossy the ceramic body is.
The phone lacks any Xiaomi logo, just the words "Mix designed by Mi." The rear is quite the fingerprint magnet, so be prepared for plenty of ugly smudges. Xiaomi has moved the fingerprint sensor to the rear, which makes for easy unlocking of the phone when you're holding it.
The lack of an edge is pretty amazing to behold, but it's not the first time we've seen a phone feature something like this.
Xiaomi's Mi Mix shows a preference for practicality over courage by including a 3.5 mm audio jack.
The Mix features quick charging via its USB Type-C port. Despite the presence of two speaker grilles, the phone only has one located on the right.
The Mix simply stands out with its futuristic display next to the iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
While the Mix has a much bigger screen than the other two phones, it's only a tad larger overall.
Having the screen extend all the way to the top just makes the phone stand out compared to the competition.
Here's another look with the Mi Mix and the iPhone 7 Plus.
Samsung's Galaxy S7 Edge tries to outshine the Mix with its curved sides.
The Nubia Z11 is the phone that comes closest to the Mi Mix with its edgeless display.
