We've rounded up some of the more peculiar-looking Bluetooth speakers, which come in all different shapes and sizes these days.
If you think we missed any gems, please post a link in the comments section. We'll be updating the roundup with new speakers as we come across them.
I've let my phone lounge in Phoniture, and I have to say there's something really special about seeing your mobile relaxing in its own chair and ottoman (where the speaker resides). The only drawback is that the sound is pretty thin (the speaker lacks bass). Nevertheless a lot of people will like the novelty of the whole set-up, which is available in blue, black, or red.
If you're looking for a speaker that looks like a key component in the reproductive process (and I don't mean sound reproduction), look no farther (or is it father?) than the Boom Swimmer. As its name implies, it's waterproof. It sounds a little thin, but it plays louder than you'd think for such a small speaker with a flexible tail. Available in multiple colors.
This handbag-shaped Bluetooth speaker is from Acoustic Research's "AR for her" line, scheduled to come out in the spring.

Ion Party Bot
We spotted Ion's Party Bot, a robot that doubles as a Bluetooth speaker, at this year's CES. It will be available later in 2014.

Thanks to its interchangeable silicone cover, the Boom Urchin is both water-resistant and shock-resistant. It comes with a couple of different mounting accessories, including a suction cup so you can take it in the shower with you. It started out at around $150, but it has since come down to about $100 and offers decent sound for that price. Available in multiple colors.
Antopos Bluetooth Speaker with Build-in Microphone
This mushroom-shaped suction-cup Bluetooth "speakerphone," which doubles as a stand for your smartphone, is sold under a couple of different no-name brands. At $15, it's hard to find a Bluetooth speaker that costs less.
It's a mouse. It's a speaker. It's a speaking mouse.
Yes, the Aerb Wireless Bluetooth Speaking mouse allows you to surf the Web on your computer while paired with your smartphone to play music. It's also designed to work as a speakerphone for Skype calls.
It may be inspired by Japanese urban vinyl toys, but Boombotix's Boombot2+ may also give more mature readers a flashback to the TV show, "Sigmund and the Sea Monsters" (1973-75). It is water-resistant and has built-in speakerphone capabilities. Available in a few different colors. Note: the plus model is the latest version of this speaker.
Here's another crazy Bluetooth speaker we spotted at CES. Massive Audio, maker of car audio gear, unleashed a full-size Dalek, studded with the company's equipment. Massive Audio is advertising the "Massive Dalek" as the world's loudest and largest Bluetooth speaker.

Malektronic Da Luz
Behold, the Malektronic Da Luz, which features rhythmically pulsing multicolor LED lights and built-in speakerphone capabilities.
Yes, even Kohler has gotten in on the wireless Bluetooth speaker action. Note the speaker is removable from the showerhead (you have to remove it to recharge it) and is separately available in a few different color options.
Not surprisingly, the Outdoor tech Turtle Shell 2 Bluetooth speaker is water-resistant and pretty rugged. It also has a rated battery life of 16 hours, which is better than what many portable Bluetooth speakers offer. Available in multiple colors.
