Women in Tech: Progress still to be made (photos)

At CNET's Women in Tech panel today at CES, Google's Marissa Mayer (second from left), Flickr founder Catarina Fake (center), and Padmasree Warrior of Cisco (second from right) discussed their experiences and shared career advice. Hint: Take that promotion. Lindsey Turrentine (left), editor in chief of CNET Reviews, and CNET's Molly Wood (right) co-hosted the panel.

The panelists agreed that a lot of progress has been made when it comes to women in the field of technology, but there's a lot more that still needs to be done.

Padmasree Warrior (right), CTO of Cisco, said that after awhile she learned not to feel guilty about the decisions she made surrounding work and family. She also said women need to talk about their experiences and that we need more role models.

Catarina Fake (center) passed along some advice: Set your sights higher and take the promotions and opportunities.

Google's Marissa Mayer (right) said she believes we need to get more people interested in technology careers overall--men and women both.
