WigWag's got a nifty new smart home setup (pictures)

WigWag is an intriguing smart home kit that successfully raised almost half a million dollars on Kickstarter last year. We caught up with the WigWag team at CEDIA -- click through to see what's new.

WigWag just announced new Filament LEDs for the system. These smart bulbs can change colors on demand, like Philips Hue LEDs.

The Filament LEDs will default to a bright white tone. You'll have a full white light spectrum to play with, from warm, yellowy light to hotter, more blue light.

Of course, the bulb's RGB diodes can produce any color you like.

The WigWag Lighting Starter Kit comes with four bulbs and the WigWag Relay, the system's control hub.

Thanks to those USB ports, you'll be able to add additional radios for things like Zigbee and Insteon support.

Here's an early version of the Relay with a Z-Wave dongle plugged in. WigWag claims it can control all sorts of devices, even popular third party devices like Belkin WeMo Switches, Philips Hue LEDs, and the Nest Learning Thermostat.

Whatever you add to your system, you'll control it by creating automation rules using a "when this, then that" structure (sound familiar?) WigWag automatically turns those rules into JavaScript code, which gets stored locally in your Relay. That means your rules will still work if the Internet cuts out. You'll also be able to edit that JavaScript code manually, if that sort of thing appeals to you.

You'll also be able to control your system and create rules using the free WigWag app on Android and iOS devices.

The WigWag Sensor Block is an optional system component that tracks things like motion, light, and temperature.

To add it (or any WigWag device) to your system, just scan the QR code on the bottom.
