Using the Sony Xperia X Compact's 23-megapixel camera

With 23 megapixels and features, like 5-axis stabilization and predictive auto-focus, the X Compact has one of the best smartphone cameras.

How about them tomatoes? The camera uses a built-in RGBC-IR sensor to make those tomatoes look just as green and sunny as when I took the photo.

Check out the tiny air bubbles in the foam of this cappuccino. The 23-megapixel sensor can capture lots of details in your images.

For this image, the X Compact balanced the bright light from the windows as well as the lighting inside the bus.

This sidewalk was in shadow so the camera chose a longer shutter speed -- resulting in the motion blur of the person walking.

The Golden Gate Bridge at sunset. I used manual mode and chose "Backlight HDR" in the scene mode dial.

Palm trees and blue skies make an ideal setting for a quick snap.

Obligatory cat photo. Notice the details in her coat; as well as, the different shades of whites -- the wall, molding and her fur.

Who needs Pokemon Go, when there's Pikachu in real life? The five-axis stabilization helped me get this low-light shot without any blur.

I just loved the textures of this statue. And the X Compact was able to capture them all.

A perfect pair: a scooter and a motorcycle. This lighting was pretty harsh which led to a little image noise in the dark colors of the scooter's seat.

The tale of two modes part one: This shot was taken with auto mode in harsh backlight. It looks a bit overexposed.

The tale of two modes, part two: This shot was taken in manual mode. I used a preset scene mode (like a point-and-shoot camera) to help with the overly bright backlight.

The camera has a 24-millimeter lens, which is fairly wide. In this image, there's a slight fish-eye effect happening with the buildings on the sides.

The X Compact camera can go up to an ISO of 12,800. Yes, that's insanely high, but it helps when taking pictures in low light.

Despite there being very little light, the camera was still able to capture good skin tones for the people at the bar without looking too overcorrected.
