Ultra-safe IoSafe N2 (pictures)

IoSafe showed off the first disaster-proof NAS server that's powered by the Synology DSM NAS operating system. The dual-bay server can guard your data against both extreme conditions and a single hard drive failure.

LAS VEGAS--The IoSafe N2 is big and heavy (about 30 pounds). This is because it comes with layers of protection. On the front, it comes with one USB 2.0 port, an SD cart slot, and a quick-backup button.

The server comes with a hex driver in case you want to open its front-facing drive bay to replace/install its internal hard drives.

Though the door is designed to be water-tight, it's quite easy to undo its two temper-resistant screws with the right tool.

The front door looks and feels like that of a vault.

You have to open two separate doors, which are two layers of protection against extreme heat and water, to get to the drives. The server can house two standard 3.5-inch SATA hard drives of any capacities, offering, for now, up to 8TB of combine storage space, or 4TB of protected storage space.

On the back the sever comes with a registration certificate attached to it. You need to register to benefit from IoSafe's warranty.

On the inside, the N2 is essentially a Synology NAS server, which promises to offer great performance, a vast mount of features, and a very robust user interface.

In fact the N2 is almost exactly the same as Synoloyg's DS213 NAS server, but just much larger in physical size.
